08 Mazda3 4cyl
I bought a brand new 2008 mazda3 4 cylinder manual 5 speed. Once i buy some decent rims and get rid of my ugly hubcaps i want to start adding hp to it.i know a 4cylinder is a small engine but are u able to make it faster? any suggestions?

There's quite a bit of parts available for the car, but you'll have to realize without spending a large amount of money on a turbo kit or nitrous, the car won't necessarily be fast. You can still improve the power in it marginally, and most of the breathing mods will help fuel economy, so long as you keep your foot out of it when it's not needed.
I'd suggest the following stuff:
-Intake
-Header
-Exhaust
Those 3 are the basics and will make the car sound nicer and breathe better. Be wary of the exhaust choice, it might end up making the car sound annoying, depending what you like. You could replace the catalytic converter with a high-flowing unit, or a test pipe (straight pipe). The test pipe will greatly increase the noise though.
I'm not sure on how close the hatchback and sedan are, (not sure which one you have), but if they are the same design underneath, you could score a Mazdaspeed 3 exhaust, which is a little larger and will give it a nice sound and some small gains.
There is a list of 'free' mods as well on some of the other mazda forums. The throttle body ground mod I hear helps a little, and solidifying the shifter bushings under the console help improve the feel of the shifter (free mod or $30 for the solid spacers).
Other mods might include upgrading the rear engine mount, but I can't say there is alot of stuff that is worth doing to it unless you plan on spending alot. I think with those mods and a nice suspension/wheel/braking setup, it could be a fun daily driver.

I doubt i'd beable to afford a turbo lol although that would be badass. but i was told today by my friend who works at mazda he said it might not be SUPER FAST but you can modify it so its decent...
