Default Brake Line Preguntas

Got a question for you smarty pants Mazda owners.

I've got to run new brake lines, from the master cylinder all the way back. Didn't know if it was worth it to invest in some steel braided for the whole length or just at the calipers? Would love some input from you guys before I do something stupid

Well, I'd say just at the calibers because, aren't the brake lines leading to the point where you want to replace with steal braid, solid tubing?

My brake lines are rusted to shit, from the master to the calipers. I've torn them off, I just didn't know if their is even a difference from running steel braided all the way, or running regular brake line and replacing the rubber lines with steel braided at the calipers

Solid steel>steel braided>rubber

Only replace solid brake lines with solid brake lines. Just buy OEM and hope you can get them in without removing too much shit.

+1 do not replace solid lines with any sort of flexible.
The previous owners must never have changed their brake fluid resulting in your lines rusting. Since brake fluid absorbs water over time or breaks down into water and it's other components when overheated, you will get rusted lines from having the water in the lines and well you're also in a marine enviroment.
For street driving most manufactures recommend the fluid be flushed out every 2 years, if your autocrossing it you should change it out at least once a year, road coursing the car I'd check after every event.

there are places where you can just buy straight line and bend it yourself for cheaper than buying at the dealer for oem line.

This is very true, don't know if EnsenCorp has the time, tools, skills, or desire to do it, but he could probably find a decent shop that could for less than what the stealership would want...maybe. Price it out EC and let us know what you find.

Ya, I don't pay people to work on my car. I really just don't trust people to touch my cars. If it's something I don't know how to do, I know somebody that does and can show me. Unless it requires welding.

I'll look up some prices and let you all know.

When I deleted my ABS, I only bought one new line from Mazda. I re-routed the others using a bending tool, cut them w/ a dremel, and re-flared teh end's w/ a flaring tool (all from advanced auto)

I didn't know what I was doing when I started, but I figured it out.

And btw the the line from the PS caliper to teh MC is about $32. Longer = more $ and there's only one shorter...
