Default Wastegate ? For Holset Turbo....

What would be the Best Wastegate set up to run with a HX-35 Holset turbo for mid range boost on a 13b?

And what do i do about closing the valve from the internal wastegate? do i weld it closed or what?

Thanks.

For the waste gate I think a Standard HKS Waste Gate will take care of business for you. HKS GT Wastegate As always, stay away from the ebay knockoffs.

I would remove the internal waste gate and use a block off plate. Some people do as you have already suggested and just simply weld it shut.

What is the hot side a/r of this turbo?

Tial or turbosmart are the best choices

There should be a large number cast into the turbine housing, 12, 14, 18, 21 etc, denotes the size of the housing, I haven't seen a map of an HX35 yet, but I've been told the 21 cm housing is comperable to a 1.08 AR. Works for me, I just block off half the scroll with a 1/8" plate and let it spool faaaaaaaast!

I run a turbonetics evolution on my HX35, 2.3L and has no boost creep at a relatively low 14lbs (ie you need a bigger gate the lower boost levels you run because the gate will be venting more gas).

You can wire the internal gate shut with stainless wire. A friend of mine ran 40lbs with the flapper shut that way. Although if your never going to use it again you could weld it.

I would look for a non-internal gated housing myself. V-bands>bolt on housings IMO.

The air ratios for the Holset HX35 varies from 1.33 to 2.34. So somewhere in there. lol if that helps any.

A/R is an abbreviation for area/radius, and no offense, but I doubt those numbers highly.

And that looks more like an HE341, I'm almost 100% sure its not an hx-35 (mine):
