Possible engine issue....
Ive got the bunked 1.6 in my 1990 miata
aside from the issue im sure il run into with the crank...
im noticing a vibration noise from 2200 to 2500 RPMs or so...
its coming from the exhuast side of the engine what sounds to be on the top end...
now im not saying its anything ridiculous like the motor may take a crap right now...because i have no light outside nor have i gone too far into it due to the engine still being hot...
there is no sound before or after that RPM range...just during...
its a solid metal on metal sound of a vibration...doesnt speed up or slow down...hense why im not freaking out...buuut it has me a little concerned..
without checking into it yet i dont have an exact idea...but curious to see what other miata owners here thought...
any opinions?

i've noticed that in a few 1.6l when they go through normal acceleration in the low rpm range. IMO it's nothing to worry about if it's what you're describing and you're not sugar coating it. but if it does go out you can pick up an entire 1.8l motor set for like $650 haha
well i have another 1.6 sitting in my shed.
alls it needs is a water pump and oil pan gasket
im just hoping i dont have to do a rebuild anytime soon lol
its all good
i just went out and took a stethoscope to it and its not internal and its only when the exhaust manifold heats up...
so
no internal w0ot

it's the exhaust system heat shields, mine does the same thing
