Anyone familiar w/3rd gen Proteges? (2001)
I'm currently loooking at a 2001 Protege DX as daily driver.
It's a 5spd, only has 40K miles on it, the whole car is spotless including the engine bay.
They only want $5.5K for it.
Is there anything to watch out for?
Common problems etc...
I realize this will be underpowered with the 1.6 but it's just gonna be an everyday car so skip the power mod suggestions.
Also i've recently become very familiar with Mazda3Online :: ProtegeGarage :: MazdaRX8Online - Your Source for Mazda Performance (man they have some good prices + free shipping), and of course already know about Corksport and Racing Beat thanks to the 7 and the Miata

You should get more answer's on Mazda Forums then you will see here.
I really don't know of anything bad that might happen with the 1.6L....

for a DD you can't go wrong. if its a private seller...you may want to try and talk them down in price....even if its on a dealer lot, if you are serious you could probably get away with it for 4500-5000 out the dor with TTL

went to look at Saturday morning with my GF to make an offer on it, had a big sold sign on it
as for price it came up as $2K below book value so it not surprising it was snatched up so fast
dammit!!!
