tuning question
Ok, looking to get the motor in my car tuned(was believed to be bridge-ported) and I called Mazworks(sp?) but he will NOT try to tune the factory ECU... I was wondering if anyone around here will, I know its possible because the owner himself said it is. So if anyone knows anyone around here that can tune my ECU for a decent price LMK...
Thanks,
-Mike

well, short of cracking it open (a la japanese tuners) and working some j-spec magic you're kinda limited one what you can do to the stock ecu.
Lots of people have had success w/ an SAFC by apexi, and from what I've heard most of that is street tuned. An Rtek is another band aid for the stock ecu I've likewise heard people achieving pretty good results w/ that.

Well street tuning is all i want. The car will be getting a motor swap but for now I want something I can take out to track events while i accumulate all the needed parts.
thanks for the info

Buy Rotary7's microtech (Link) and call 727-547-8236. I am amazed that you have a bridgeport and stock ecu, even if it was reprogrammed. Whom ever tuned it before must have some sort of _|[)/\/\ sorcery. Good luck!

actually thats the whole thing... it wont run on the factory ECU... only if you hold the pedal so it stays at around 1800RPM.. I dont want a microtech because well, Im going piston

Then why waste the time and money getting it tuned? Pull the bitch and do your nasty deed

Because the swap I am planning is not common at all so there is no kit and no otherwise parts for it. So it will be some time accumulating all that I need. So for now I want to use it as a track car.
I must apologize for my frankness, but it makes me say no wonder these engines are always blowing up. No one wants to do it right.
My redneck response is: Weeeelll, if the bitch runs and you are on the track, you wont see below 1800rpms. Shooooot, if she stalls, pop der clutch and keep on truckin'. And heeeelll, she blows, your taking her heart out anyway, so no loss!
My racing knowledge: If you are serious about tracking the car, you need it to be properly tuned, especially if it has a bridgeport. You should install several gauges to monitor all of her vitals. Plus, when you decide to go piston you can still use the gauges that you will need regardless of the power plant.
Which power plant are you planning on?

Really planning on a 2JZge-T But as of right now I have have my hands on another I6
... As for microtech, Why waste the $900+$900ish for a tune to have a motor running that I dont want in the first place. As for rotarys blowing up, its not because of me. The previous owner had the car built by some mexican, shit was done all wrong and Im not going to try and fix his mistakes. I tried to sell the motor, so a rotary enthusiast could build it and take care of it but the best offer I had was $75 and I dont think so
