i have got a friend that has a 626 with a pretty close to dead battery and it wont go into drive.

Do you guys think the battery might be the proble or should it go in drive anyway.

I'm no phd but i don't believe that the batter and transmission have anything to do with each other, although there might be some kind of safety system to prevent the car from going into gear when off.... What year is it?

 

Check the fluid level.

Do you get any rotational noise in park when you rev the engine?
