Hey guys, have a question regarding the Rx7 motors and their respective chassis. Pardon my ignorance, but what engine came in the '80's' era rx7's? I was told 13b and if that's so, how much hp do they come with stock? I need something small that'll fit into my b2000. . .

79-85 12a carb motor idk hp#'s for this engine

86-88 13b FI 140hp ish
89-92 13b FI 160hp
the turbo engines are 200hp S4 and 220hp S5

actually it's 180hp-s4 200hp-s5

The best engine you would want to put in there for the money would be a 13bt (87-91 turbo engine). Parts are very plentiful, it's a bare bones import muscle. It would roughly cost around $3,000 to swap it into your truck. Thats if you do all the labor yourself.

I have seen weird swaps for that truck,one swap is a Starion (2.4?) turbo motor

the 12a will drop right in that truck you have to make a front motor mount.everything eles goes together like its made for it.

Those two sentences don't go together well. The 12a is a childs toy if not built up, where as atleast with a stock 13bt his truck would actually be faster then what he started with, not slower.

I want something with more pick up. Swaps and fabbing are what I do, but with VAG cars. So the only problem will be locating the 13bt, harness, and tranny. Anything that'll out do my 2 barrel 63whp engine will settle, but a stock motor with about 200hp will be perfect.

Anyone have/know of a 13bt for sale?
