Default rotary question

i had an 89 rx7 about 2-3 years ago. i had a wine like straight-cut gears. its the only rotary ive ever been in. i was wondering if it all rotary motors sound like that or if the transmission or rear gear had straight cut gears. thanx

Well since its your only rotary you been in,its hard to determin what you heard.
Some manual trannies are very quiet.

The whine, was it in the rear or tranny?Cause I have heard cut gears, and they whine like a bitch.High pitched. You probally heard a combination of engine and tranny, and I would say they were not cut.

I dont think even the SCCA guys cut them.

cool. i dont think they actually cut the original gears. the guy i bought it from said a race transmission but so does about 90% of everyone else thats selling a car. thats the only car ive drove tho that sounded like straight gears. it was just bugging me forever wondering if it was that or if the motors sound like that. thanx
