When is stock fuel cut off for an 87 turboII rx7?? is it 6psi?

fuel cut is 8.5 psi for s4's. You spelled "beet" wrong, and I'm sure you can "beat" every single one of us with your almighty toyota, thats why you want to trade it for an rx7 But us Rotary guys are *smart* enough not to push our turbos past their efficiency range (do you even know what that is???) even though we have all the supporting mods unlike some little girl thinkin his stock supra at 14psi is gods gift to humans.... Go back to the toyota section if you feel like acting like a 16year old ricer...

 

Hey Guys! sorry about that, I left my name logged in and my little brother thought that would be funny lol. My toyota is slow anyway lol. Anyway this one guy wants to trade me and he has a non-turbo car that is an 87 but it has a jdm turbo swap in it...he says he has the boost turned up to 10psi. but then he also told me that fco is at 6psi. I thought that the stock boost settings for a turbo rx7 were 6psi so then it wouldnt make and sense for the fuel cut off to be at 6psi, lol. So i asked him what kind of boost controller he has (i was thinking a manual boost controller) but then he told me he didnt have one, he said he has an open down pipe and that is making the turbo spike...can somebody confirm this? Will having an open downpipe make your turbo spike?

 

Yes an open downpipe will cause the boost to spike. Any kind of free flowing exhaust will cause the boost to spike. It would probably be a good idea to port the wastegate and get a boost controller.

 

so since i really dont have that much money to play with right now... what would be the first thing to do? maybe just get an exhaust system on it? wouldnt that make the boost not spike?

 

Remove the turbo charger, take off the rear housing and cut off the orignal wastegate flap door. Get an exhaust valve (old supra ones are perfect size) cut off the stem so you just have the ciricle part. Port the wastegate hole as big as you can while still keeping it small enough for the valve to cover it. Then weld the valve onto the flapper. You might want to shave off some metal from the backside plate of the turbo too. The only exhaust system that won't spike will be so small that you would not want it.

 

Damn it sounds complicated lol

 

not complicated, just time consuming. It took me a good two days, just because I had to put my turbo in the freezer overnight to get the hot side back on.
