Haha no left turns in this thread....iam not wanting 2 do a swap....I have a csvt and I am purchasing a 88 se with a S5 swap....and I was wanting 2 have a rotary faster than my csvt....I understand now talking with crpytic aloooot of things about the s5 and s4 engine...and I thank him for the advice.

Next question is with the street bore and bridge something....I spoke 2 the guy selling the 88 se and he is a pretty cool guy....I just wanted some advise 2 get more torque out of my n\a s5.

first off

You will have problems wiring in that S5 engine into the S4 unless you go with a standalone, which is not worth it on a n/a rotary engine.

Also,
Im not sure what you are paying for the car.But im sure you can find one running and better platform than the SE to begin with.

Do you some research before you buy the car

Yeah theres no point in putting the s5 engine in, you will have alot of headaches for what your not getting. if it was a s5 turbo engine then I could see why, but n/a are not really fast. Your ford could take one without any problems. You will have to get a piggy back, or a carb swap and a nice port job (rebuild) if you want to get up to 200rwhp.

I plan on putting on a turbo set up on the s5 rotary...if that is possible... Is the SE platform that bad 2 build on ? The guy I talked 2 said it won't be a problem 2 put in the s5 engine. But please let me kno...Iam buying the 88 shell new ACT clutch, 18,000 miles on the S5 13b...s5 transmission, everything for 800. And his really good friend will put everything in for 500...

As of right now theres not real bolt on turbo kit. Every conversion ive heard about was a custom job. Also the N/A engine cant handle the boost that a turbo engine can. Your better off getting a TII engine.

it's kind of a risk trying to bridgeport a 6port engine, I've never ported 6port plates but from what I've heard from people it's extremely easy to cut into the water jackets on them. Not to mention needing better bearings, TII oil pump and a heap load of other stuff to make that 9500rpm somewhat reliable.

This is funny.

This SE shell.
Used to belong to a member here.

He sold it to another guy,who is also a member here.

Now the guy who owns it now (a kid that goes to Leto?)
Has had it advertised on this site, many times already for a while now.
If his friend, can put the engine in,and get it running. Why has he not done it in the last 6 months since hes been tring to sell it?

Let me know if this is the car.

The FC might not be faster than the contour in a straight line but it'll damn sure be more fun. (my mom has a contour, i hate that thing but hers isnt the SVT)

Either way they've got a point about the S5 motor in the S4 car, that can be a pain - you can either A: switch out all the sensors and stuff and use the S4 ecu and harness (which will still need some rewiring for things to fit right.
Or B: rewire the car harness to work with the S5 ecu and engine harness.
Or C: run a standalone and get it tuned - if you're going to do this why not get a turbo motor while you're at it? I'll buy the S5

options A and B are a pain in the ass and C is expensive.

BTW: the GL badge came on 86's it was the model someplace between the GXL and the SE - It had the same 4lug suspension as the SE, a sunroof, and ALUMINUM phonedial wheels (a real SE has steel phonedial wheels)
I've only seen like 1 that had the "GL" badge on the side

I have never seen steel phonedial wheels.I have also never seen a GL model.

Rotary Buddhas first 7 was a SE with aluminum phonedial wheels, the car was 100% stock.JapDannys first 7 was a SE with phonedial wheels, when he got the car it was 100% stock

If they are refering the to the "sport" to be a GL.
The car had 5 lug/4 pistion calipers in the front open diff, looks like a gxl but it had the rubber wing on the back
