1995s are obviously the best. And the ones without sunroofs are too.

Did they not have S/R's? I'm not to good with the FD packages. I just know that the 1995s have the least problems (as with all cars, the later the year of a particular model the better), and sunroofs add weight.

A 95 R2 would probably be the best due to the suspension upgrades. It is not the lightest though. A base model is slightly lighter. 94-95 had glass sunroofs (moonroofs?) as opposed to the 93 body-colored sunroofs.

Actually, in answer to your question more directly, I wouldn't make the year of the car a major condition on buying it. I would start by looking for a clean body and interior. Once you've found that, then have the motor checked out. The year of the car (and even the trim level) would be far down on my list of considerations.

There are also PEP (Popular Equipment Package) & PEG (Popular Equipment Group). Those replaced the "Touring" models in 94 & 95. As far as I know, the only models with sunroofs were the Touring, PEP & PEG. It's possible that the sunroofs were installed on some Base models as a dealer option though...

I am about to have a 3rd gen, red '93 for sale here in a little while. I got it with a broke motor, and it's being fixed at the moment and is going to have a street ported motor going back in it. It came with a molded in body kit, apexi exhaust, M2 intercooler, etc. Very good shape, PM me if interested, I'll know more about price when it gets done, and I'm sure I'll have it on here with pics and more info when its done.
