Default Porting is the best?

I just got my engine ported and it runs good. Its a very exotic type of port, from what I was told, by Scott. If you know him.

Maybe anyone knows about porting and what power it will push with my hybrid single turbo setup

I would say 99% of the People here with rotarys will tell you porting is the shit,(if your wondering who the dumb ass is the 1% is Levi,he claims porting is no good)

Of course porting will give you power, pending on what type of porting you have and for whats it for.

Post what you have and some dyno numbers..

I got me the largest port possible without going to a bridge style.

Who is Levi? I have met a person with that real name and he fixed my turbo car and my buds car and made them both run 100% better, but that must be someone else.

But anyways, I was also told by Pettit Racing not to port my engine, because it would be a slower car overall. but I did it anyways.

Mazsport told me I would lose 25% on the low end and gain 15% on top end, so that sounded good to me, then I learned the water pumps don't pump water @ 4000 rpm or higher, so I am not sure I did the right thing by doing what Scott said to.

Who else has a ported engine and did you lose low end power?

I kinda have to rev high to get it going, before It was real responsive without the porting. but not the same.

I would say I have a good 200 hp @ 15 psi...

The turbo I am running is one that came off a turbo charged V-6 Buick or something. It like a Garret T3 with water and oil cooled, fairly large turbo.

I had it rebuilt and told me I needed a T5 exhaust housing , so that got switched with a different turbine on the exhaust side.

As far as I know, Scott did a similar port job to my car. I bought the car when this engine only had 300 miles on it, so I didn't feel it before porting. The car pulls hard to the 8200 RPM rev limiter that I have set. I'm happy with my motor. It has been running strong for over a year now. I'm eager to see what my car will do at 20 psi which we will find out when it gets cool out.

Yes, porting definitely helps, but only 200hp at 15psi? that sounds really low.

Just 200 to the wheels. I am sure it makes more than that @ the flywheel.

But based off what I was told I lost more power in the lower rpms 4500 and below and gained 15% 4500 rpm and up.

The only part I hate is the water pump shit, and Levi told me about this and so did Scott, but Levi said he makes pulleys for the water pumps and allows for them to turn the pump slower and continue to work. Scott said the pulley is what they do to the race cars, and I guess I have made my T2 into one of those cars...lol

I kinda wish I left it stock port and maybe just ported the secondary ports, that way I would have awesome low end and top end. I enjoyed smoking my tires @ 2000, Levi installed a restritor and it made the spool instantly. now I don't have that, I have to rev to 3500 or so. To make it pull hard enough to smoke the tires.

I would like to comment on what you said about how Levi feels porting is no good.

I do not know you " Rotary 7" nor do I know if you have ever met Levi, but I have met Levi many times and he always told me porting is the only way to make REAL power numbers with a rotary.
He was the reason I did port my engine, but I didn't listen to the details he said about porting, the good side and bad side of the process.

I just wanted big HP numbers. I am sure the car is faster top end, no doubt its a new engine and ported. But I often wonder what stock would have pulled with the hybrid turbo setup. I can say the car is slower if I take off @ a normal RPM like 1500. But pull out the hole @ 6000 rpm and the fuckin tires ignite and start smoking.

Question For you ported engine guys.

Did you notice your temp went up or down after the porting?

I guess this would depend if your last engine was good and running and not ported..

Did you keep stock radiator after porting?

My stock port always ran very low like 1/4, now its running almost 1/2 which is fine, but that must be because I am running so much of the time over 4000 rpm to get the power I want to feel, and the water pump flaw is causing a hotter than normal system.

Piano prodigy, I think I met you once @ 1320 me and my friend went down to hang with Levi and his freinds. Are you the black guy with the T78 that Levi tuned and got it from 14s to 11s that night?
