Default Will rotaries ever be back at Le Mans?

Hopefully, but I don't think they will be back. What is your opinion?

That link brings hope, but how can they make a fast Renesis engine to compete with the boxer 6 engines of the porches?, Is mazda partly owned by ford?, so ford would probably prevent mazda from entering Le mans.

http://www.mazda.com/

look at the bottom right corner. they have owned 51% for a couple years now. ever wonder why the probe looks like a rx7. or why the FD never made it past 95 while in japan it went to 02.

They didn't ban the motor, just the variable intake trumpets system that increased and decreased the intake runners lengths to maximize power. It is a very very expensive endeavor to do Le Mans which I think is mostly why Mazda didn't try and rebuild another car to race in it since a very important part of the 787B's engine wasn't allowed anymore.

another quick side note is that the only reason it won is because the lead car broke down in the last 5 laps (a benz). le mans is a endurance race not who can go the fastest.

if you would like to read 7 pages of flaming back and forth read this.

So the 787 must have been pretty close to that benz. The winner is whoever has covered the greatest distance at the end of the time allowed. If the benz broke and the 787 was 10 laps back with only 20 minutes left, the benz still would have won, but if the 787 passed the distance of where the benz was when it broke before time ran out, then the 787 takes the lead and wins. And to answer the original question, it is highly unlikely that a rotary will ever compete again at lemans.
