i just bought a 87 rx7 n/a the car ran then but it stalled every time i came to a light, and then like 18 miles down the road it died and wouldnt start again, the dude said the IAC motor was goin bad??!? not to familar with rotaries please help need car to run for a move next week ---David---

 

i wasnt aware that a rotary had an iac motor...lol
tps may be bad... check plugs/did the car sit for a long time b4 u bought? check compression also.

yea thats what i thought, it did sit for a while but it was crunk up and let warm up regularly, would the tps be doing that? what about the bav?

 

Its flooded.

 

bad idle could mean a couple of things. bad tps, vaccum leak, low compression. when you start the car does it hold a idle at 3k for 15sec then drop down to around 1.5k then once the car is warmed up it should be at 700-1k. if its a vaccum leak then you have to go around to ever vaccum hose and spary some carb cleaner to find the hole.

 

im not sure what it does at idle, i just bought it and was told it had idle problems, then on the drive home it started running weird, and then it wouldnt crank back up, also while i was driving the car cut off at every stop light, i put another tps from a differnet car and it didnt help, it did the unflooding procedure today with no luck please help!

i put the tps off my other rx7 on it to see if it would have an effect, i took the car to a local shop in town owned by carlos gonzalez, hes got an rx3 running high 6's so he'll probably have me covered thanks for the responses tho
