does anyone know much about the 90ish 323 turbo drivetrain? i just bought a 91 merc. Capri and just wondering what mods i can do to make some more power, besides the obvious boost controller and BOV....let me know thanx

 

is this the 323 that is AWD that was JDM.. seen one in ebay not to long ago..

 

I think he speaks of the 323 GTX it came here with the B6T 1.6Turbo motor .

It was a rally homoligation model only a few hundred or so made it to the states . Good luck finding 1 that someone wants to cu tup for parts .

Best bet is going to import teh motor and use parts from a subie or something to do AWD

 

Alot fo people do the Probe IC as its a bit bigger , intake , boost controller , DP , exhuast and other obvious mods will make more power .

Maybe a T3/T4 and some fuel mods will be your best bet for ultimate power . Doing a normal tune up probally wouldnt do anything but finding old and tired HP lost by old stock parts

 

what year probe I/C are you refering to? also does anyone know much about the motor? how good or bad it is? im not tryin to do any AWD conversions i actually have a Mercury Capri but it has the same motor as the 323 the 1.6DOHC turbo...also does anyone know what size the turbo is? any basic knowledge of the car will be appreciated......thanx

the capri is 2.3 liter and its Garret T3 turbo.

and they are not the same engines,

The 323 GTX they were not built here in the 90s.also comes with a larger 1.8 T engine, which a freind of mine owns and we drive it.

Yes, Jack do youi know John up @ American rental? He has one, come by one day and we can go over and drool on it, they only made 1500 us models, so he told me and they were built in 87/88 years. Thats whats I was told, so the data may be incorrect, but his car is very nice and has like a stock 3 step wing on the back hatch, its fucking wild looking, and he said the car runs 13.8 stock, or his does anyways. its kinda funny looking with little 14' wheels, but thats how the keep the TQ up high and all 4 corners.

He is into rotary migets now, boy are they quick, they run 12s on a stock 13B injected.

 

I have been trying to buy his car for almost 8 years now..lol He won't even trade for my one of a kind Shelby that I have, and its way faster..He loves his 323.. he is funny about it.

But i wish I could get it, its very weird to ride in it. It was like the way the MP3 rode stuck like glue even in the rain...lol

 

No the Capri is not a 2.3 you must be thinking of a different car, the capri i have is a 1.6 DOHCT and its the same motor that is in the 89 323GTX minus the AWD factor....i think the capri your thinking of is like the mustang body style...this is a lil conv. car....
