correct spelling.Apex seals. if your getting a 1st gen. then you have a choice between engines. 12a and 13b. 12a is carburated will 13b is FI.
www.mazdatrix.com for some great info and parts for wankels. also RX-7 burns oil as a part of its natural combustion process. So make sure to check your oil every gas fill up, and add as necessary to maintain the full level.

not necessarily . . . take pics of it and post we might be able to help. A few things could cause it. Is there build up in the exhaust or is it just smoking. I have seen some Rx-7s burn alot of oil it would be the Oil rings on the rotors or maybe even the main seals all depends on how bad the smoke where it is coming from etc. . .But I doubt its the apex seals . . . check the compression thats the best way to check apex seals

Don't get a 1st gen. They get very scary when the front end starts to come off the ground right around 110 mph and makes the steering very light feeling..The faster you go the worse gocart feeling you get. The handling is not very good either, compared to the 2nd generation or 3rd generation RX7s., The !st gen has a solid rear axle which is idleal for drag racing while the other models have Independant axles. But I would get a SE or a Base model S4 RX7, put on a header make is single exhaust, cone filter, lose the extra parts to lose weight and you got a 13 second street car. For only $250 worth of mods.

One of your O-rings in the housings when bad and is leaking oil into the combustion chamber and getting pushed out the exhaust port and out the exhaust pipe itself, If you have oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil, then other O-rings are bad.

Don't listen to Tampa Tony. He had his engine built, and doesn't know how any of it works. He goes to the shop for everything.

I don''t know the cause of the lifting problem, but I think aerodynamics are the problem. I think the car needs a front air dam and a air spliter, becuase the amount of turbulence underneath is alot.

you need one of the JGTC front bumpers that have the giant lips sticking out.
