Is Street Porting really worth it?
i just want to get your opinion on it, is street porting a N/A 87 13b really worth it. according Mazdatrix not really. Ive only had my rx7 about 4 months and ive been learning a lot about the rotary. i havent really done any mods on it yet so the engine is pretty much stock. but its got really low miles 71k to be exact. FCDrifter has seen it so he can vouch for that. so what should i do
well i have actually seen a few street ported rotaries that are slower than stock ports.... so id mod it till u dont think you can anymore and then buy a ported engine or port another block out yourself and then you can compare the differences yourself.. i have heard from my car club pres. that porting not only looses torque but unless ported right you can loose hp too... therefore thatz why some street ported rx7's u see around town only sound fast.. lol my brother street ported his 91 engine inside his 87 base but i havent seen him get on it seeing that it has only a few miles on it.... ill keep u informed

i didnt want to turbo, im making my car a N/A drift car i dont care much about top end speed, i need good accelartion. ive got tons of other plans for the car. like lighten the body and stiffening the chasis. and im going with a tien suspension system with the efdc system.
for drifting eventualy you are going to need the turbo.
at first simple n/a stuffs should be ok but when you start getting into higher speeds the boost is gonna com in handy
i suggest you try and find a low milage turbo motor
of the same generation(trust me you dont want to mess with a 91 in your car)
just in the future the n/a motor is not gonna have the same power as the n/a will and remeber the rotarys have shite torque so the turbo will come in handy whe needing torque
and if you are going to port your motor do it later like around the time your seals are going to start wearing out why waste money are a perfectly good motor and have to rebulid it unless you really have to....
use this time as a time to learn the physics of the car....the fc3s is one of the harder cars to drift its not as predictable as the s13 or s14 or ae86 from what i undestand
