Default Rotary Rebulids

What's up tr...I just came across a t2 engine that's needs a rebuild. This would be my first time ever rebuilding a rotary engine though i m thinking of breaking down the engine and putting it together a few times before I make an attempt to install the seals. On the topic of seals I would like to know what type of seals would be ideal for a turbo application and I'd like to know what the price would be.

FOR A FACTORY turbo REBUILD u might end up paying for all seals /springs.etc. like $750.00-$850.00 brand new...

Checkout http://www.mazdatrix.com http://www.racingbeat.com or http://www.atkinsrotary.com. Also, check with Maztech (Jeff) or Mazsport (Scott) they carry the kits or can get them from a mazda dealer in the area. From my experience it was cheaper buying it from Jeff (Maztech) than mazda I guess with him buying parts from them all the time he gets a decent discount and can sell it cheaper than mazda does retail.

If you can find the whole kit online seals, gaskets, and all it should be cheaper than anyone else in town. I think I got mine from mazdatrix, but it was over a year ago I can't remember exactly where I got them from.

Rebuilding a rotary isn't all that difficult. I think the hardest part of the whole rebuild was trying to deal with the two piece apex seals. If the one piece are sufficient for your rebuild I would probably use them. I have an engine with one piece apezs and the engine runs great. Not too sure how long they last b/c the engine doesn't have that many miles on it, but supposibly the sealing ability at lower rpm isn't as good as the two piece seals. With my experience it isn't a noticable affect on lower rpm power.

It all depends on where you are trying to go with the rebuild weither you want more of a drag, autocross, or daily driver. If you need more help PM me I'll try my best to point you in the right direction, I know a little bit about the rotaries I have been messing with them a few years now, but don't get me wrong, there is still a lot I don't know and am learning everyday.

For $750 you can get a used J spec 13BT complete..The guy I use say the most miles he has seen on them is 45k and those are auto cars.with warranty, car is done and running in one day..

use the other engine to play with and rebuild and that.

Just a idea.

when you rebuild only the turbo engines, for have to make the nitriting is still there..or the engine will not last long, and never port the engine if you want it to last...

Alot of BS has been said here about me, but ask Cameron Worth why he doesn't port engines...there is a reason..He owns Pettit Racing.

Usually when an engine is ported its for a reason, i.e. racing, whenever someone is racing an engine or a huge load is put onto an engine it isnt going to last very long. Port the engine if you want I have both ported and non-ported engines. I enjoy using my ported engines more than the stock port engines. It's all up to preference weither to port an engine or keep the stock ports. Do what you want. I have both and enjoy the hell out of driving my ported engines.
