Default ?Tips and tricks for Holley's on Rotories

Maybe we can start all over and keep the negative non tuning advice on the other thread?

So what are the tips and tricks you use with your Holley set up?

Only thing I have done is jetting sizes, fuel pressure, 1" block, removed choke and the old screw trick. Which is done to a 600 vac seconcary.

I think your problem is that the 600cfm carb is to big for your aplication.

The Racing beats website recomends 465 CFM for a stock or streat ported 12a.

Some times bigger in not better esp. when dealing with carbs.

I used to race a RX3 about 15 years ago and am a good freind of Mike Lowe who owns Lowe Proformance and the 1979 turbo RX7 that has run an 8.33 at 165 MPH with out NOS.:o

I have heard him say this on many occasions.

I know the 465 CFM carb is more $$$ and hard to find but it will make your car much faster.

Yeah the 465 that RB sells are reworked for the rotary engine..
They are jetted and the air venturies are redone..

People run 600s/650 all day on 12As...I have seen 750-900 on the 13Bs.

There are Holley tuners in the bay area for rotarys...but plan on spending $$$ no freebie there..

I dont have a problem with my carb, I would just like to see more info out here about them. I have a new 600 straight from the factory, not reworked for a rotary and runs good. I would just like to see it run better and better! Actually since I have rewired my ignition to a MSD Direct Fire it really runs good!

To All 1st Gen owners: Do the Direct Fire Ignition set up! It is worth it, I beleive it is as important as headers!

Yes I have seen a people run 600 on a 2.3 pinto as well. That does not mean it will not run faster with a smaller carb.

Iam not too sure about the 465 size? They are Racing Beat so I sure they must run good, but in their catalog they dont show too much horse power coming from their 465 set up? Also, they dont share any secrets about what they do to them. I dont have any experience with the RB 465, but do have a non rotary 600, that seems to run pretty damn good for $150 new off of ebay. With the jets and metering block a little over $200. I would like to see RB beat that!

Well I played with my jets Fri. Went from to lean to rich and back to a happy medium, running better and am jetted at 59's for my prim and 65's for my secs. Still looking for info on taping the air bleeds to make them adjustable, I think I need to richen my top end.

Ok who said 600-650s or 750-900s were smaller carbs?
The stock carb on a 12A is something in the 300s.
I know a Datsun right now.. that has a 13B/650 Holley and run 9s.. do you know of any Pintos that run that?

What point were you tring to prove?
