Wow this has gotten heated. Ok, for starters I raced a 2G talon AWD with 272 cams, a GT30R turbo and a conservative street tune the other night at beat him. Raced from a dig. You cant say that STi's are great (Java, I'm not talking directly to you), but STi's have such a close gear ratio in that 6 speed that it hinders the ability to put that power down for a long pull. STi's stock will hit 5th gear in the 1/4! A lot of STi owners tend to prefer a built 5 speed in the WRX because they can hold the gears out longer. For example, as found on NASIOC, a 330 awhp WRX is equal to a 420awhp STi in 1/4 mile times. I know it doesnt make sense, but the more you have to shift, the more time it takes away from making forward inertia. Also, take a look at the Motor Trend article on the STi vs WRX for 2011. Stock for stock the 265 hp WRX only lost to the 305hp STi by a tenth of a second, and the WRX had a higher trap speed and a better 1/8th mile. Just saying, that 6 speed hinders the ability to make a fast 1/4 mile pass. The STi gear set is more based for rally, autocross, and road racing, which is where the STi does its best. The WRX is the poor mans STi (and since I'm a poor man, I have the WRX). The 5 speed is for daily driving, and the longer gears give it better fuel economy. I dont talk highly about my car. Its good for what it is. I know there are cars faster than me. Not denying that. But if you have never ran me or taken a ride in my car, dont talk shit about it. The car right now is in the works of getting some body work done, so it doesnt look good RIGHT NOW. But ask quiksilvia, my car STILL turns heads with a banged up fender, an unpainted front lip, and an STi wing that doesnt quite match my paint. Why is this? Because people dont see one every day. Eclipses/Talons.... I can find them at used car dealers on just about every corner.... they might not be a GS-T/GSX/TSi, but they dont have any aesthetic differences to tell them apart from a non-turbo, so nobody cares. STi's do.... and an Evo looks NOTHING like the Lancer, so people look at them a lot too. I used to own a GSX Eclipe 1G. I know they can be fast. Until we run, dont come into our forum, talk shit to everyone (especially an Evo that with SLAUGHTER you), with a car making false claims.

My car is a good street car. I prefer to autocross and road racing though. Drag racing is about HP, and not as much focused on driver skills. You truely become one with the car and the road when you learn how to auto-x and can control your car through quick transitions, and threshold braking. Thats what I prefer to race. Much more fun. Hence why I put the STi wing on my car, and a front splitter lip.
Honestly, I dont think my car is that fast. Its a decent street car that turns heads. Honestly, I have a kid on the way, so having a 4 door that I am happy driving and that is safe is more important to me. Thats why I bought the car in the first place. I knew one day I would have a family, and wanted something that was still fun and 4 doors. Seems that now I have a kid on the way, so luckily I have done what I have wanted to the motor. It runs good, reliably, and safe.
