3) From the people I've met with "fast" or even "quick" imports, they are respectable, and don't really care what some guy is saying in a stupid call out on the internet, if anything, they would be turned away from it because they don't want to deal with that kind of bullshit. They're not being pussies or hiding, they just don't want to put up with immaturity on this level.

I will personally not be there for a multitude of reasons, some being those and others because I don't like drag racing. My car is slow, and I have no problem admitting it. You would probably consider me a ricer because I would rather make my daily driver look the way I want it that have unnecessary power. Different strokes for different folks, I could care less what you think, so do your self a favor and don't make a direct reply to me because, although I will most likely read, it will be to get a laugh more than anything.

More excuses,..

Sunshine is not in Clearwater.
I live in northern pasco,.. New Port Rikety and can make Tampa or Sunshine in 35 - 40 mins

Its funny,..
you guys drive and meet on CCC or other parts of Tampa and St Pete to hang out and talk about pretend racing,.. yet here is an opportunity to hang out, have some fun and put your foot where your mouths are. So far only 1 guy is willing to step up to the plate. Ruler's car is actually pretty slow compared to most other mustangs out there. He never said his car was fast,.. just wanted to get some of you jerks off the streets and onto a track.

Ruler is actually a pretty mellow guy in person. He is a school teacher,.. hence the name,.. Ruler. He is yanking on all your chains and you guys are playing into the stereo typical ricer rolls to a T. LoL. The bashing,. the insults,.. the excuses,.. the e-thuging. Its halarious.

but honestly i dont have anything against domestics i like all cars

FS-DE is a Mazda engine,. not Ford.

It was used in Ford vehicles because of their partnership with Mazda. That doesnt make it a Ford engine. It was designed in Japan.

Just come hang out,.. I'll be in a 2004 dark blue extended cab Silverado. I probably wont do any better then 10's in the 1/8. Will be slow. My Mustang is in pieces right now so its a no show. I'm a big fat guy,.. you cant miss me.

All he's trying to do is to get you guys off the streets. He threw the Ricer term out there to yank chains and get your attention. And you have to admit,.. you guys are all stirred up worse then a hornets nest LoL.

Everyone is going about this the wrong way.

Slow or fast everyone is welcome at the track. Ya hurst your right watching a slow car going down the track isnt always fun....but I bet if you ask that driver in the car if they are having a good time most likely they will say yes.

Thats what this sport is supose to be all about, either fast or slow as long as the driver (not the spectator) is having fun.

I would much rather see a slow import at the track than seeing a slow import on the street doing dumb shit and putting alot of peoples lives in danger. Slow or fast off the line these imports can get up to well over 100 mph on the streets (may take a tad longer than a domestic but they can do it) Do you really want to be driving with you wife and kids with someone (anyone domestic or import) doing a flyby at 100+ mph weaving in and out of traffic? And dont put this all on imports guys, I see alot of domestic cars that have trouble breaking into the 14's too. Again it boils down to having fun and thats whats it all about.

I know this sounds weird that a mainly domestic race shop is sticking up for imports but there is no reason we cant all get along.

Tracks are closing down left and right around the country thanks to the slowing economy and lack of paticipation. Racing is frowened upon during this economic down turn and especially with all the tree hugging hippies out there wanting to take our gas engines away (hmmmm.....wonder how we are gonna make battery powered cars faster? More batteries )

Think back to the 70's when the gas shortages came into play. Back then before that happened you could go to the dealership and buy a car with a 500+ cu in big block straight off the show room floor! Those days are obvisouly gone, but I see the trend starting to begin again. Ford has leaked rumors that they may eventually do away with the 8 cyl motor, making most of their new cars 6 cyl turbo engines....what is a domestic car gonna be called when that happens?

I am waiting to see how many of you "domestic" guys actually show up. Talk, talk, talk yet when race day comes around I pull into the track and no one that said they where going to be there is there! With all the hype and talk going on out there in the internet world this even on the 17th should be hell of fun with a shit ton of people there, thats if the people who say they are gonna show up actually do.

Support your local tracks....trust me you will look back on this someday and realize why you no longer have a place to race safely if everyone stays in this mind set.

protip:driving in a straight line does not equal driver skill. most real drivers would laugh in your face if you told them to come out to a drag strip to "test your skills" in other words...lrn2corner.

i drive an 88 mustang gt and an 08 nissan Z, i know imports and domestics have their ups and downs...usually i'd bring my stang out to a straight line track because...well thats what it is made for but it's people like you that make me want to bring out my stock z and shut up the muscle heads that think their mustang gt with an x pipe and flowmasters is god's gift to the drag strip.

You say ignorance pisses you off.
Well,.. it pisses me off too. You are ignorant to say Mustangs were made for straight line racing. Mustangs, Camaro's, Trans Am's, And all of the older cars that were originally part of the Pony car class, AMC Javalin, Baracuda, Challenger, etc were not made for Straight line racing. The term Pony car was made because these cars were as numble as a Pony. These car were the originators of SCCA Trans Am racing. Road course cars. Not drag cars. Guys used them for drag racing because they were lighter then the other larger cars that were typically used in drag racing. All of those cars are sporting front wheel drive today,. the pony cars have remained rear wheel drive,.. so its only natural that they get used for drag racing. But to say they are designed for drag racing,.. you couldnt be farther from the truth. That is the common ignorance and mis-information that flows among the younger crowd these day because you guys honestly dont know. Sad really.

That does bother me that you people say drag racing has "no skill"

There is alot that need to go right when drag racing (reaction time, shift points, etc.) you have to be perfect every time. Atleast when "road racing" if you mess up one turn well no biggie, you can make up your lost time by maybe driving into the next corner deeper. Well in drag racing, make one mistake your run is ruined, there is really no catching up unless they other guy makes a mistake.

Let put it like this:
Drive a car that does a 1.30 60 foot time with the front wheels off the ground and its making a move toward the wall, but remember you cant steer since your front wheels are off the ground. You have to make a split second decision, lift and loose or let it hang and see what happens? Mind you that you have to keep it in your head where your shift points are, watching gauges, etc the whole time your making that decision. And when it does come down make sure your brain didnt take control over your body (its natural, your going right you have to over come the issue that you have been taught since day one of driving, your gonna want to naturally turn left to straighten it out) cause if you turn that steering wheel while you where in the air guess where your going when you come down.....

Ya....theres no skill in drag racing. Anyone can drive a top fuel car, no prior experience needed.

I dont see why you all say this either. Mustangs road race, hell we just finished tuning a Mustang that the customer stated he was using it to go out to Sebring.

Couple changes here and there on a Mustang its just as ready for the road course as it is the drag strip.
