Audi is Luxury and Euro. BMW can be considered Luxury and is also Euro, so can go either way. Again, every car is judged for multiple classes including Best Interior, Engine Bay, Best of Show, etc. You did not win, so get over it and don't think you got "shafted". Realize that car show judging is based on opinion and stop complaining (looks bad on your part). It just makes the racers look down even more on the show contestants.

Its doesn't look bad in my part at all, but clearly POINTS out your ignorants, lack of common sense, and the worst of all NOT having an open mind to take input from people and admitting this shit was not right, Euros are Euros are Euros.
If you have a euro class their should have been NO need to but a euro in another class just for shits and giggles.

Thumbs up

I don’t know guys….

I have an opinion on what everyone can do to make the show better but I think if you are going to discuss the issue and really try to help everyone out….you need to check you egos and name-calling mouths at the door.

Here is what I would suggest:

nShow organizers: put all the categories on the registration sheet and the entrants check off what they want to be entered in. The judges can still evaluate the cars and you can still choose what categories have enough entrants to get trophies but this way, the entrants have a better feel on what it is they will be judged on.

nShow organizers: get the judges involved. My judge did not say one word to me. I know how to deal with it so it was not a big deal but the contestants need to promote their own cars and be able to “sell it” to the judges. If there is too many cars, get more judges involved, start judging earlier, whatever, but make every effort to at least get the judges at least as enthusiastic as you are. They seriously set the tone for the show and the contestants. If your judges are despondent or aloof in anyway, what do you expect the contestant to feel like?

nContestants: there are things you can do to help your cause. If you like going to, and showing in, shows, you have to take some ownership over what happens. Show some enthusiasm. Be close at hand so you can approach and talk with the judges. Ask if they have any questions or would like more info. The more you show them the uniqueness of your car and your enthusiasm for the car the more notice they will take and more importantly …the more the judge will remember about you and your car. The car show world is as much a subjective judging world as any other event based on how well you do something based on fundamental criteria. Having the most done or most expensive or flashiest anything is not going to guarantee you squat! You have to be able to read the situation at hand and adapt. Is the judge a motor guy or an ICE guy? Do they know more about JDM or Domestic or Euro? Are they more concerned with aesthetics or build? Is the show happening around a race competition or a dance club? All of these are going to factor greatly in how you are ultimately categorized and judged. It is up to you to “read” that and do the best you can to put your best foot forward in all situations.

nContestants: If you are faced with a quiet judge or a tight timeline with no time to go through your car and all its greatness, do what I do and develop a nice looking booklet that outlines everything. Make sure it includes all current mods as well as good current pictures and any write ups or articles your car has been featured in. This is what I did at this show. The judge was quiet and moving fast so I moved quickly and offered my book and said “look man, I can talk this car for an hour straight. I know you have a lot to do and I appreciate that. Why don’t you take a look at this book as it contains all the mods and project notes and if you want to see something closer or have any questions I am right here…thanks dude.” What I am getting at is is you can go to a show and park and hope, OR, you can actively seek out the most points you can get by preparing for as many situations as you can and adapting quickly.

I don’t have all the answers and you can blow me off as a suck up or over-zealous idiot but my car wins shows. The car has won over 40 shows including 2 NOPI nationals as well as over 20 best of shows. It has 4 feature articles. Since I have owned it, I have entered in 5 shows and taken 5 trophies. Does it have the most or the best or is it the cleanest? Not even close. What the car and I do together ensures we put the best foot forward we can. I am not bragging I am simply demonstrating what it takes and what IMHO is failing in this thread.

You some great points.
I ddin't want to come across as a sore loser because I am far from that. Hell I enter shows and leave before the awards are announce because I never expect to win. I just found out my last car was best Nissan 5 years ago at tuner bash.

However, if I see something is unfair or not right you better believe I will be heard, or in this case SEEN. lol

understandable

I just had some opnions and saw the thread going south quickly.

we should be able to offer constructive criticisms and have a good dicussion of issues without getting our panties in wad (for lack of a better term)

hopefully our input (positive or negative) will help in making this event better and not drive it off to another location or not happen at all
