not having to launch at 8k is addictive...

kelvin youve got apples and oranges to compare... not saying its your choice, but your starlet is way overbuilt for the hp it makes, thus making it alot simpler to launch..

everyone wants to compare a FWD honda with a 205 street tire to a rwd car with a big nasty slick or DR on it.

my automatic supra running 275 DR's went my fastest time my second pass. and i could cosistantly run it over and over within a tenth 12.2@114
my manual 76 celica coupe went 12.8@ 108 on a 205 falken azenis.. took a milllion passes and the car obviously had more in it.
now i've run integra's and hatches through the years and seen the same problem i had with my celica over and over and over....

now i'm sure when dave puts and auto in his teggy and figures out how to run a 315 micky on a street car, i can go to the track and nail consisstant times too.

ive driven alot of cars at the track and i've never found FWD's any harder get good (for the car) launches.

I prefer parts on a car to be as unbreakable as possible . Nothing fun about an inconsistent car. Especially, when it was built to bracket race.

You have a point with what you said about the comparison.

But, even on equal sized tires we'll say slicks a FWD is still going to be harder to drive then a RWD. Due to weight transfer.

i guess i still didnt make my point clear.

your comparing a FWD that doesnt hook to a rwd that does..

the fact that it doesnt hook is your (not anyone specificaly) stupid fault for drag racing a car that sucks at drag racing.

compare say... CFT's drag car to doc's car with 2 temp tires on the back....

rwd isnt providing an advantage anymore.

plenty of FWD's do 1.5 60's consistantly, while plenty of RWD's struggle with 2.0 60's

being fwd is a disadvantage, for sure, but the problem your discussing is a lack of traction caused by not having proper parts to hook with, not the fact that it is FWD.

a good example was dave's hideous green and black EG running chris's "race truck"

twice we saw the EG out 60 foot the truck on a crappy pavement, dusty road.

FWD is still gay, but not more difficult to drive.

i also didnt mean the starlet was overbuilt for the power it makes in terms of not breaking parts, i meant in terms of traction...

the teggy doesnt have the traction it needs to use the HP it has already, while the starlet could get another 200 hp and still not see any chassis or wheel and tire changes
