Well the way I see it is that neither of your motors came either the way they are or are in the vehicle they came in originally. But both of your motors came in the same chassis as they are now. Dave's just came in a Japanese market civic.

It's not like either of you are stuffing something into a vehicle it didn't come in.

Regardless for some incredible reason Dave comes out of the hole hard. I damn near expected him to pull the wheels, lol j/k!
