synthetic or conventional oil ?
I will be getting my engine back from a rebuild in a couple of weeks. I am looking for advise as to what type of oil to run in it. I plan to use mineral oil (conventional) for the first 10 min start up. After that, I thought of using synthetic 5w-30 AmsOil. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
you don't use synthetic until a few thousand miles after break in
you're arresting the break in process by doing that and won't get total ring seal...or any at all for that matter
it sounds like you need to do alot more research before you break in your engine

I wouldn't use Synthetic till you get at least 4000 miles on it.Everybody will have there own break in way, but use cheap oil and change it oftern.
I like to do the first change after 50 miles or so, then 500 ish then every 1000 till your happy with it.
