I would choose the direzza z1 star spec for the money vs wear vs grip..for a street car.

My 555r's lasted forever but they were horrible in ANY type of remotely wet conditions. I think I got about 9k out of them if I remember correctly. Stickiest for the money is ebay 555r's but if you want a real street tire look elsewhere.

the biggest question is, are you looking for a drag race type of sticky or a road race kind of sticky.... cause that will have alot of effect on the proper tire. as far as drag tires are concerned i believe the mickey thompson drag radial is about the best your gonna get.

but if your running a relatively low horsepower car then the nitto 555R's are about the best bang for buck IMO

the neogen is not a sticky tire..it is a performance all season and not even in the same class as tires like the hankook rs2/3, direzza z1, azenis rt-615, re11r, kdw etc etc..

Also the prices on them are pretty similar, what you are losing is longer treadwear. tranceologist quoted me 97 ea mounted and balanced on the z1's and that a killer freaking deal, seeing as they are 107/ea before shipping on tire rack.

i almost dont even consider the 555r a street tire. I know it is but I would never consider legitimately running one on the street. i would throw a drag radial on if i really needed the forward traction, and if it was cornering i was after.. i would just compromise a little bit in exchange for an extra 5k miles and not worrying about dying everytime clouds roll in. my rs2s and azenis handled like dry all seasons in the rain, never felt sketchy. the azenis even when BALD still handle rain pretty well right now...the rs2s would break loose in 5th gear at 40 in heavy rain when bald..terrifying.

Regardless my neo gens perform very well and give plenty of traction for my all motor setup. I'm not putting out crazy numbers or anything but they give me exactly the performance I need in the dry, in the rain, and through corners. Price was not too bad on them either.

555r's have soft side walls by the way so they will roll badly under hard cornering so like YBlegal said...are you looking for straight line performance, road race performance, or every day performance?
