Default Poll for new shop idea in POLK

Wussup TR. I need some help. Friend of mine approached me about doin an all Honda shop with used and new parts, instalation, maitenance, and stuff like that.
So my questions are... Would it be worth doing in Polk County? Where, Winter Haven, Lakeland, Lake Wales, or Haines city? What would you like to see and expect?
Polk counties chance to have a shop thats really like what they want. So have at it.

i think its a great idea, but honda scene not that huge around here, there is already one in lakeland called "Honda World" on combee. it kinda blows though. i would deffinatley be a regular customer, not having to wait on shipping or having to drive an hour to go pick up some broken bullshit. Winter Haven would be a good place for me, but Lakeland is your best bet because there are more people and more money floating around.

Hmmm could go either way..Are you talking about a shop that just orders parts? Or are you talking about a shop that builds cars and installs parts and whatnot?

A shop that just gets parts will probably fail..Everyone has the internet and can order there own shit for cheaper than any shop.

A shop that orders parts AND installs them has a better chance of lasting..But then you need people that know what there doing or you will fail in a big hurry. And when I say someone that knows what there doing I'm talking like building engines,Transmissions someone that knows there shit not just some backyard mechanic.

Could it work? Yes there is no good shops in Polk county. That Honda world bullshit just orders e-bay parts and charges you more. They will fail very soon.

And yes it should be in Lakeland.

The concept is a 2 bay shop to start. I would also have a gated lot. Get a contracted deal with an impound company as well as a junk yard for any honda so I can buy the Honda's in bulk for any one who needs used parts. I have a powder coater so I would be doing already done powder coated heads rims and parts as well as on demand. I have a skunk 2 sponsorship so goody's would be in stock as well as other company's. I already have a person to do paint and body as well as engine bay shaves and working on wire tucks.

If you think about it, yes there isn't a huge honda scene here, but look how many people from POLK go to the races everywhere else. I think having a shop here thats truly functionable, with great mechanics, awesome builds, new and used even rebuilt parts, including full engines as well as true JDM goody's and rare parts. That would inspire there to be a much bigger Honda scene.

Its up to us as enthusiast to support our local shop as long as they do over and beyond the work expected and the shop to meet the demands beyond the customers expectations. If this works then in theory its up to us to bring the scene instead of going to the scene. As well as monitor it and be responsible for it. Thats why I want to do the shop in our area and hopefully inspire a culture thats already here to surface from under the rocks and be able to have meets at the shop and street race days at our track.

And there is a lot of Honda guys in Polk..Just most of them stay hidden for fear of theft and not wanting to be associated with the "scene".

tru tru. I know more than a few. Then in Lakeland at the meets some begin to surface. So I know the actual market is there but I gotta base it on supply and demand as well as actual customers. I'm sure they are definitely out there. Probably gonna do like a roll call for who is in the area on this forum. But its all about statistics and demographics for start up capital.
