Default someone settle this crap for me please

okay i have had both ends of the hinda spectrums, much like we all have had. SOHC/DOHC, i have seen this large rise of sohc cars coming about, more than dohc's. what the hell is with this. i have like 15 people telling me that sohc civic are faster than dohc, but i have seen thier dyno sheets, and on stock motors with bolt ons these guys are making over 130-145@ the wheels. are these freak motors or just well running ones??? and they smoke B16's....i was debating how long they would last on the NOS too, but it has been over a year and their motors run great

you know the old saying, if it runs well its gonna break. i guess not.

and to make it worse a few of them are tubo/spray hatches now, both at the same time.

please comment about the whole DOHC vs SOHC debate please

the factory DOHC motors are designed a lot better. mainly due to thier air flow design, more agressives cams (as opposed to one mild cam), the abilty to rev higher safer, etc ,etc

the dohc motor makes more power easier than the sohc. period. you may be noticing more sohc guys arising cuase they are on budgets and cannot afford to swap the dohc motor and then build and turbocharge them. you will not be seeing 600+whp sohc motors anytime soon.

Dohc Is for high rpm it is made to run the car cooler then spinning one cam pushing 16valves at 6K the dohc only spins intake/ex. cams its made to run better and not to put as much stress on the cams and valves but beat the hell out of the cylenders you can make many sohc blow dohc but with faster shifting and low rpms but in the long mile runs dohc all the time

There both good motors and it really depends how u tune and build it.Dont forget that thier doin low 10's on a 1.5 block!Personally my favorite motors are the crvtec and b20vtec in boosted forms.

Well, without a doubt a DOHC has more potential than a SOHC.

A SOHC can made to be fast as long the power is transfer to the ground. With good gearing, flywheel, a very light car and of course and a must, a good driver.

The problem with DOHC guys is that they make too much power that don't put all the hp to the ground. Therefore a SOHC that has a decent power will spank the DOHC guy.

Lol, funny, a few weeks when I went to the track, I've seen a '88 HF that had a D16 junkyard turbo setup(that has not been dyno yet) put the smack down a turbo integra. The integra owner claim he had it dyno and was putting down 275hp but wasn't able to hook up.

The CRX still manage a 13.6 at 97mph whereas the TurboTeg was able to do 14.1@106 mph.

See the pattern.

Its not how much you make, its how smart you are with the power you make.

So I do give respect to those SOHC guys on whipping the DOHC cause they take the time to do it right.

i have to say DOHC, nothing against SOHC guys. but it has to be the "extra cam" , lol, no, really i have seen a couple of really good sohc's , even mine i have in my civic now, i have tried my hardest to blow it up and cant seem to do it, although i have to drive it to a shop in a week to get the swap done, maybe ill do it right before i get in there and have to push it in, but try about 30,000 miles without a oil change, adding oil yeah, but its not gone yet
