Default Help A/C question, ASAP, its hot here.

Ok, i recently did a motor swap into my EK civic coupe (B18c1). My A/C condensor had a leak in it and the A/C was not working what so ever. So we took it and the compressor and some of the hoses that went along with them. I made sure that the end of the hoses for the A/C system that remained in the car were taped up so no dirt got into them. So now i have the condensor, compressor, and some of the hoses that are attached to the compressor out of the car. I just went in to honda today to have them check it out to be put back in. I know i need a del sol vtec compressor bracket. But honda seems to think that after the system is open and sat for a while the entire system may be ruined? Is this possible. I did tape up the ends of the tubes that remained in the car. Can a compressor go bad because i left it out? Or the hoses that come off of it? Or even the ones remaining in the car? Please help.

Your system should not be ruined. Most all A/C systems have one
componet that is perishable when open to the atmosphere. Your receiver/drier has desicant material inside of it. It's purpose is to
absorb moisture and keep the system "dry". Most techs replace it when servicing the A/C, however I've found if you allow the system to stand at vacuum on a pump for about 1 1/2 hours you should be ok.

If your compresser was left open, you should remove and replace what oil is in it!

If you bring a opened system into a honda dealer you would be lucky to get any warranty, I work for one,I am a\c certified and have my r-12 card.

just put all the a/c shit back in your car. make sure theres lubrication in the compressor, go to discount, get 2 cans of r134 and a small can of the oil that is used to lubricate the system, fill it up and call it a day.
