95DX question about tranny!!
i have a 95 civic dx and have about 150xxx miles on it, car has always been taken care of, recently i was hearing a winding noise coming from the tranny in first and second. i figured i should change my tranny fluid for it mite be out of tranny oil or something, tranny fluid never changed since new, (dont ask me why) i changed fluid and sound went away for 2 weeks, and i found no shavings or anything in original fluid, (thought there would be) now the sound is back, not sure if tranny is fuked or i need a new clutch, anyone ever ran into this???? or have any ideas?? let me know thanx everyone and dont hate the dx! its just temporary while i build my dohc beast..
Tranny's are really hard to diagnose over the internet.
Since the noise went away and came back I'm thinking it could be your mainshaft or countershaft bearing. This means the tranny would need to be popped open.
Does you clutch slip? Could also be a pilot bearing or throw out.
If it is an internal bearing it might be cheaper to just find another tranny.
