Hondata ECU

When you have a ECU socketed for hondata does it change anything? I mean can I put the computer back in the car without hondata and everything still work fine...

No I am just saying can I stick the computer in there and have everything work just fine with the hondata computer not actually hooked up to it? Just leave the socket and everything for hondata but not actually hook a hondata system up to it yet?
