One of the most noble parts of our classic car hobby is working to keep old cars on the road for years to come and for future generations to enjoy. And Honda is among the latest carmakers to offer a helping hand in that pursuit.

While plans for a heritage parts program have been in the works since at least last year, Honda is now offering more details on how the program will function here in the U.S. and abroad.

The program is twofold, offering new parts for older models through “Honda Heritage Parts” and in-house restorations through “Honda Restoration Service,” both under the “Honda Heritage Works” banner.

"In this 40th anniversary year of the Acura brand, the launch of Honda Heritage Parts is especially meaningful, giving Acura enthusiasts the support they need to continue enjoying their first-generation Acura NSX," said Steven Bailey, vice president of Honda and Acura Parts, Service and Technical Division. "At its core, the new Honda Heritage Parts program honors our shared passion for these iconic vehicles and helps ensure they can be enjoyed by future generations."

While Honda Restoration Service will (for now) only be available in Japan–and only for Japanese-market, first-generation NSXs–Honda Heritage Parts will begin offering reproduction parts here in the U.S. starting this summer for the U.S.-market NSX.

The new parts, which will be available for purchase through Acura dealerships, fit into one of two categories: “Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts,” which are reproduction parts made using the same materials and production methods as the originals, and “Honda Compatible Parts,” which are reproduction parts that have been developed to replace ones that are no longer available.

Which parts will be available through the program? Honda is set to announce this closer to the official launch of Honda Heritage Works in Japan on April 1. Likewise, the press release notes that parts for other Honda and Acura models are also being evaluated.
