Default LS BLOCK Questions

im need replace my bearings in my motor. so i figured why not throw some type r pistons in there for some more compression. first question is, will they fit with having to do any modifications? next is i think my crank has gone to shit. so i was offered a really good deal on a b20 crank. will that fit and work with my set up? will it make a difference in power? am i better off shaving my crank down? please respond ...........thanks

rule of thumb: never shave Honda cranks. I light micropolish is ok but never shave.
b20b/z (crv) crank = 90+ls crank
b20a (old prelude/accord) crank = stroker crank (95mm), not a good idea
itr pistons need to be modified to run on ls rods. Get usdm b16a pistons which works out to about 11:1 compression w/ an ls head. The b16a pistons are a direct fit on the ls rods and the compression will be higher. I think type r is about 10.5: but I don't feel like doing the math now.

Ya I would like to know if this would work. I did not know you could put B16 pistons on LS rods and get 11:1 compression. Is this correct? Just curious as I have not heard of this before. Is that with a stock LS head and bottom end except for the b16 pistons?

KJ, you can shave a honda crank, BUT, they put some kinda of coating or some shit on the crank my dad said. and once you pass a certain point on the crank its all gone.
the crank is nitrated he said ( some sort of hardening process)

b16 pistons WILL work on STOCK LS rods.

type-r yields 10.8 in an LS MOTOR and JDM-R yield 11:1 but the pistons need to be cut to fit the LS rods which is 40$

i ran 15.2 in my hatch with a STOCK LS Motor my 1st time ever at the track. so i KNOW the car coulda done 14.6-14.9 STOCK with a good driver. i also dynoed it. 121.5hp and 113 torque to the wheels STOCK!!. badass torque for a stock motor.

im gunna guess and say you should be 140-150hp and 120-125 torque.

my semi-built ls/vtec made 133torque
