Default AEM ByPass Valve????

Does anyone have this? does it really work. cause i'd hate to spend money on something that might save my engine then have my engine blow up on me. i mean it would suck for me to go to jail for arson when i burn down aem

hey man i had one on my intake i would think that it would save your engine if you dont believe me do this take a straw and poke a large hole with say a tack and then try to suck h2o through it. It will not come past the whole and it will be really hard to suck.

i call BS. in order for that bypass to work, the ENTIRE air filter would have to be covered with water in order for the bypass to work.

if the entire filter isnt covered, the motor pulls air from the uncovered portion of the filter because it will follow the path of least resistance.

if your running a shorty intake, think about how engulfed your motor has to be in order to suck THAT much water in. i think you would have other problems to worry about if your engine bay is flooded with water.

small amounts of wter are usually burned up in the combustion chamber. there have been intakes for Domestics for YEARS, hell DECADES and no one else has ever made one.... think about that.

also, if it was so great, why havent any car manufacters added this? if it happened often, it would be cheap insurance for the millions of cars made each year........but it never happens, so they dont do it.

unless youve got the entire airfilter placed below the car <why?!>
dont buy it, its just a thing that ricers buy.

Just cut the pipe in half and when it is raining put the filter on the top half.

corey r is right if were talking about short ram intakes however for example my aem cold air intake puts my filter right behind the air duct on my front bumper the coldest place on the front of my car problem is the filter is about 6-8 inches of the ground a deep
enough puddle and my eintire piping could be under water BOOM
(piss in a cup put the straw an inch into the liquid suck hard look in the mirror this is the same face you will make when your engine is waterlogged)

No actually it takes the cooler air by taking air that is farther away from the engine which has a lot of hot air around it...If you have a cold air intake the AEM bypass valve would be something I would invest in...It only takes a little bit of water to fuck your engine up....And water doesn't compress...So something in the engine would have to give...Save yourself a lot of money in the long run and get the filter if you run a CAI...If you run a short ram like me then your fine cause if you get that much water in the engine bay you will have other problems to worry about like corey R said....

corey r. go back to the chevy section. there is a purpose to CAI's. dyno test prove these. a short ram intake is going to suck in hot air from the engine bay, a CAI is going to get colder air from outside the engine bay. also how is an intake rice? maybe if it stuck out the hood it would be rice.

a bypass is very good if you have a CAI, you dont need one for a short ram, if you get in high enough water for it to hit the short ram you're f'd.
