I need more power from a single cam! how?
My last car was an 88 honda crx dx after scooting around on the stock d15 for a few months i bought a soch vtec motor for 150.00 dollars from steve former parts at crown honda in st.pete the swap went in within a few days due to some minor wiring problems and i ran high 15's with intake 2.25 header back exhaust and a center force dual friction clutch on a dx tranie...However when i found out my wife and I were expecting a babie i went to hondaland in tampa and traded it in on my 2000 civic ex the crx had a d16z6 my civic has a d16y8 wich produces slightly better numbers however my civic is much heavier and also has an automatic tranie making it much slower so far i have a skunk2 universal exhaust with stock piping gutted cat converter an aem cold air intake the y8 header is pretty nice no instead of replacing it right away I removed it and wrapped it with d.e.i. exhaust wrap all the way to the cat. Here's my delima whats my next move i had an adjustable feul presure regulator on my c.r.x that helped a little with power am i overlooking anything else? With all the single cam motors out there hopefully i can get some good input. Sorry this is kind of long winded
well man you'v seen my civic maby sometime I can swing by and have a look and I do have some extra stuff laying around not much but as sson as I shake this cold I will swing buy and turn some wrench's with you cool??

i got a 98 dx oupe
neuspeed race springs
cold air intake
stock header and cat
with 2.5" exhaust after the cat into a turn down about half the way down the car
a set 13" steelies wrapped in nittos 505s (two 100%thread two 50% thread)
d16y8 fuel system (injectors rail FPR)
walbro 255HP fuel pump
stock i ran a 16.9 and a friend ran a 16.6 in it
after mods i did a 15.9
the head was rebuild by honda on aug 2001 (50k on it car now has 63k)
then a few weeks ago i did the whole tune up and shit
new belts flushed all fluids new filters all around distributar cap rotar wires etc timming belt and valves adjusted
then i went to the track not to long ago and ran a 15.6
but the main part that i do my best at is the launch
my best launch was 1.98 but usually i do 2.0-2.1 range
but mine is a stick
and thats with full interoior and spare etc
not bad for under a grand into it
but not much potenteal for any dramatic time drops from here without F/I
but IMO ive learned that its better to save and get a swap
drivin a sohc is fun but drive in a nice swaped civic............. stock theyll do high 14s *pending model and driver etc*
all just a personal prefference in the end
but for a sohc its the launch and shit that matters the most IMO cuz the higer speeds the slower its gonna go

sell the sohc. get a swap. dont wast your time with a sohc motor. plus all the money you'll spend on a single cam engine, you will run stock with a swap. but a ls swap. save some money go lsvtec and walk everyone. simple as that

ls/vtec is great, but he wont be walking everyone.
If you want to stay with the SOHC motor, go FI, it's the only way.
If you want to go hybrid, stick with a GSR. It's simple, good hp out of the box and has room to addon. It's also inexpensive.
A GSR will generally make ~150whp stock
From there you can make leaps and bounds.
