well a 90 LS does not have a knock senser at all so you will not need it.The 94-up does but if its going in a 91 integra, then no plug on the 91 engine harnes will be there to plug in.there for no need for it....
as far as the idling problem ,check the codes from the ECU
& make sure the led is not blinking, hope that helps
if not contact me..

what is the sensor next to the oil filter? it has two prongs on it for two seperate wires to go onto the sensor on 90 motor? i took the sensor out and the sensor threads into the coolant chamber area????

on the 90 block there are three plugs on the back:
-single nipple plug- oil pressure sender-same as 94
-double nipple plug- this is the coolant temp switch for the 90 block, in 92+ it was moved to the thermostat housing
-sensor with green two wire plug- this is an oil temp sensor or switch, it does not need to be hooked up and I've never actually figured out what it does. It was only on the b18a blocks.

There were not knock sensors on ls blocks until 96. Looks like you are confusing the weird green plug sensor for a knock sensor. Don't worry about it and it is not the source of your idleing.

the green plug plugs up fine to the new block but the plug with the two nipples that have two wires to connect it will not go on the new block becuase there is no hole for it on the new block (as KJ has described that it is the coolant sensor)

if this is the coolant sensor what can i do to make it work is there another back up sensor on the head somewhere and i don't have to worry about hooking it up???

You DON'T need the green plug sensor all it is good for is a plug. You will need to get a 92+ b-series thermostat housing that has the coolant temp switch located in it. The stock 92+ plug for this sensor has a green wire and a black wire, the two nipple plug wires are black and grn/yel(I think). Wire black to black and green to yel/grn (or whatever color it is) and that takes care of that.
