definitely hondata. its can control ignition, fuel curves, rev limit, and vtec engagement and can pin point everything a lot better than a vafc. but for minor modifications hondata isnt really necessary and a vafc will do just fine...depends on the car
the Hondata controls ignition and directly fuel injection with no upper limit for increases, VAFC indirectly changes the fuel by adjusting the MAP input signal (why it's called a piggyback) and does not control ignition timing... Hondata sets rev limits, VAFC no such control
