Default Valve Spring Compressor

I need to remove the valve train from an h22a head. I went down to Sears today to get a valve spring compressor ... they had two different kinds there so I just bought both, got back to the house and tried both of them ... neither one worked ... are there any companies out there that make a valve spring compressor for the Honda motors? Or does anyone out there have one that they'd like to sell or let me barrow? Let me know, need to get this out so I can throw in the Skunk2 counterparts

just use a socket and a hammer and the keepers will pop out.

getting them back in WILL REQUIRE spring compressor

i believe HONDA makes/sells the only one that is actually useful

i used a 2.5 in long piece of schedule 40 pvc with a big hole drilled in the sides. with a regular c clamp style valvespring compressor just slide it in where the clamp would normally grab the retainer, and put the keepers inthru the holes in the side

The best kind for Honda's are the suspended bar types like the one Snap-On sells. They run from $75 to $125. Sorry I don't lend out my tools anymore after I've recieved them back broken or sometimes not at all.

I called Sun Honda and talked to the parts department, they do not sell a tool to remove the valve springs. Nor was he any help in finding one. He told me to contact snap-on or mac tool co and get one from them and then i'd have to pick-up a special adapter for Honda's and he didn't have a clue where to get it... was very helpful..

The reason it is hard to use is because Honda's are overhead cam not overhead valve. I've heard of people using those though.

What you're describing sounds exactly like the tool I used to reassemble my cylinder head. Good call on making it yourself
