Default P28 or not to P28.

Hey guys. Would I be losing or gaining any power with the P28 ECU instead of the GSR ECU. I'm thinking about swapping my GSR ECU. Thanks for the help.

running the stock GSR intake manifold with a chipped P28 ECU, which doesn't control the secondaries and leaves them wide open will make you lose about 10ft. lbs. of torque

some suggestions:
upgrading to a single-butterfly intake manifold system like the ITR, Skunk2, and JG manifold.

another solution - use the GSR/P72 ECU!
BTW, a GSR/P72 ECU is capable of running the same program as the P28 ECU - so there's no worries there, however...

It is possible to reprogram a P28 ECU with GSR program but it's not a good idea. A P28 is capable of running a GSR program, but there will be significant problems.

1) you will get an engine check light for the knock sensor since P28's do not have a knocks sensor board.

2) the secondary butterflies will not be controlled by the P28 since there's no hardware on the P28 to control those butterflies. The P28 ECU is meant to be used on single-butterfly intake manifold equipped engines.

You will not get a check engine light for the knock sensor, because the p28 does not look for one..Your correct about the secondary's they will not work with the p28...

Default Skunk2 manifold

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have a Skunk2 manifold and I'm getting a cutoff everytime I'm about to hit V-tech.
