ok. this maybe a silly question but hear it goes. i took my car to carmax and they told me that i had to get my axle assembly replaced, thats cool cause it is under warranty but now they say that i have to get the wheel studs replaced to get that assembly on cause they are stripped. the question is if they are stripped how did they get the orignal assembly off. Can anyone answer that for me

 

geting it off with bad threads wouldnt be the hard part, it would be putting it back on.

they make wrenches and shit to go over stripeed nuts and shit and would pull them right off just they wouldnt want to go back on cuz the thing is stripped to shit

yup. my buddy has a ls with a good amount of mods and his axles were shit. he took it to a shop and they stripped his lug nuts and told him that they were already stripped which was bull shit cause he just put new rims and lugs on there the week before.

 

generally stuff won't strip on the way out. It strips when it is cross threaded on. What probably happened is the last time the lugs were put on they were cross threaded and then pounded on with an impact gun.

The shop could have done this while putting your car back together. they could have used the wrong lug nuts with a different thread pitch or something, then realized their mistake and are now trying to say it was already like that.
