How can you tell when fuel pump starts to go?...
Okay, lately in my car when i accelerate my car seems to bog down. It happens periodically, its not a tranny problem i dont believe because the rpms dont go up..so its not the clutch slipping. I had a problem simillar to this back in sept., i replaced the fuel filter, cap and rotor, new plug wires, new ignition coil, and put in a bottle of that grease lighting injector cleaner. It ran fine since i did that till about this monday. Its not as bad as it was before i got the new fuel filter but still. At first it would only bog down in 3rd and 4th gear when i would accelerate from 3000 rpms or so..now its starting to do it more often. As i see it the only possilbe things left are the injectors, fuel pump, or the charcoal canister (which i'm not to sure what its function is). Its a 1990 honda prelude, and i'm not sure what the life of a fuel pump is, could it be less efficent now and be causing to much resistance casuing it to get hot and shut down or limit the flow? i have no clue. Also if i do find its the fuel pump at fault and i decide to get an aftermarket walbro unit should i get a 190lph or 255lph unit..i plan to eventually go FI so i guess the question is if the 255 unit is over kill while im' NA..thanks alot for any help and sorry about the length
