Default Coilover question!?!

So I am installing coilovers on my civic and I am having a problem with my rear coils and the top hats.

Here are the pics of the situation:

The problem i am having is when i go to put the top hat over the piston of the shock there is a washer that goes on top of that and then the nut goes onto the shock. Well as u will see in the pics with the washer on there aren't enough threads to start the nut. And when its off it has plenty of room but it sinks down into the top hat rubbers. Hopefully the pics help!

This is one of the rears how it came.

This is how the assembly is suppose to be together but of course the nut wont thread. The fronts went together like this with no problems but the rears won't.

This is just to show there aren't any threads for the nut to catch on

And this is what happened when i tried to install it without the washer. It sunk into the rubber on top. It threaded on there but only has about two threads showing.

My questions are:

Is it sinking like that acceptablte? (I don't think so)

Do I need that washer or can I go with out it? Or should I get a smaller thinner one?

If neither of these ^ questions is the answer how do I solve this problem?

Any help is appreciated guys thanx.

Josh

Yea the washer in the first pic is what's getting in the way. The fronts did not have this washer nor did they come with one. I'm going to call them 2 maro and ask them.

I cant tell if its sitting on top of the spring but if it is, a spring compressor would give u all the room u need. Or have someone put their weight on it while you put the nut on. The washer is just a washer. If you need a thinner one then its fine too use a thiner one. All the washer does is protect the bushing from being torn by the nut itself. Also, if your bushings in your old shock assembly werent destroyed, u could re-use them, since i believe they are actually a little thinner. Did it on my DA a while back

^there should be a washer for under the top hat in the front too. thats what keeps the shock arm from doing what just happened.

Ok yea i figured all of that out now that I have the suspension on I have the height in the front set at 1.75" but my driver side is 1/2" lower and no matter how far up I adjust the coilover it still sits at the same height. I adjusted it to.sit at 1.5 and it still sits lower than the passenger side. Is my driver side coil blown?

But 1/2"? I measured both sides again to make sure. My passenger is rite @ 1.75 and the driver @ 1.5. But when i make my measurements the car is still a half inch lower. If the tire wasn't rubbg I wouldn't care but it is.
