Default Ebay Quick Release Stuck, HELP!

My car's a 92 hatch, I have this eBay quick release someone gave to me for free on my car.... It's one of those mistakes you do when you first get you car... Lol, anyways when I first put it on it was working fine like a quick release should but now it's stuck and will not come off.... I've tired putting some WD-40 in between to see if it would come off & just now banging it with a hammer.... No luck... Any suggestions??? I'm not trying to go to a shop to spend 50-100 just to remove this piece of s***..... This is what it looks like

Sometimes when the hub cannot be pulled off, pressing it on,
then pulling back, then pressing it on and pulling it back will allow the
mechanism to release. Pushing on one side when pulling on the other side
and repeating several times will also break it loose.

Is the hub nut covered by the quick release mechanism?-Bob
