B16 vs GSR tranny...is it REALLY that big of a difference !?
Yes its been covered bunch of times , and yes ive used search, but I always end up on the same crappy threads and posts, and still undecided..Ive got a B16 S4C tranny and deciding on possibly trading for a GSR Hydro tranny... Seeying that this is my DD and will be on HWY M-F 20 miles each way to work and back, not sure if I can stand the high rpms on the b16 compared to the gsr. Will be no track and NO boost, and NO i don't want to buy an ITR tranny unless ure giving me the $ for it.. From what I've read its only like a 400-500 rpm difference, so is the difference in noise level from doing 70 @ 4k that much different than @3500k?.. It's going to go into an LS V B18a bottom/GSR head...not stock...in a 94 2dr LS.. anyone has driven both and felt a huge difference in acceleration OR loss in acceleration? Has the noise level that much different? should i just deal with it and keep my b16? anyone
yes the noise level is different.....and if your traveling highway miles gas mileage will be affected between 3500-4000, but your tune will also affect that.

im only driving like 40 miles on hwy each day really so not tooo bad, but Unless im dropping down to like hummer gas mileage levels , than I don't really care about mileage, I've
heard its few gallons overall at most.. based on my last 3 days driving all around, im avg like maybe 40-60 mph most of the time..w/ all the traffic all the time and all.. i got my charger for the long trips and everything else , so i think im going to stick w/ my b16.

Keep the b16 transmission. They both have the same final drive and first gear. 2n-5th gear is shorter in the B16 and is geared for more spirited driving. The B16 trans will rev approximately 400rpm more in 5th gear at cruising speeds. Fuel economy will not be affected to the point where you will notice it.

Biggest misconception out there about it, which I'm glad Vance addressed appropriately. Like he advised, stick with the S4C. No point in going though the hassle of a trade.
