Default 2002 Civic Engine Swap

I am in a total loss. I bought a 2k2 civic about 2 months ago hoping to find an easy, inexpensize engine swap. Now I know I can go with the k series engines with a new mount and a hell lot of money. But someone on Hondaswap.com said that I could put a B series in it. Is that possible? Could someone please tell me what engine I could put in my 2002 Civic DX, Non-Vtec.[/b]

the D17 motor featured in your car is basically the same as the D series motors in previous civics. they also rotate the same direction as hondas of yore.

K series motors rotate clockwise, therefore it's mounted under the hood 180 degrees from the old layout.

this being said, you can stick just about any B series motor in there considering you have the proper motor mounts. you can get the B series mounts from HASport or Place Racing.

Thanx for the help. I think I want to do with either a b18c engine. I visited the web sites that you suggested but I can't find anything on mounts for the 2001+ civic. Thanx.

I think the steering rack placement and whatnot will interfere with a b-series motor swap...the front end of the newer civics is totally screwy compaired to the earlier ones. I'd love to see a b-series motor in one though, the new bodystyle just looks like it deserves it.

it's already been done... the D16 bottom end is similar in external measurements to a B16 bottom end and doesnt interfere with engine placement.

one was showed off by HASport at SEMA to prove their mounts work.

?? you bought a 2002 and you want to swap it w/ an old bseries motor?? i would go w/ a k series .. more power ..minor detail everyone that has been completed so far has been a total hack job. save up the 5-10g and put a k series in, i think hasport has finally released the mount conversion for the swap ... not sure though.
