B16 is great for a road racing engine because the high rev RPMs is where your power comes in at. Some head work and you can improve the bottom end torque but nothing like what you would get out of building a proper b20 vtec imho.

K series, even when you upgrade with oem parts, can put down a lot of power all motor.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

This question is very general. At the end of the day it comes down to what you want to do with the car. If you want to stay all motor or go forced induction. As far as being all motor, out of the motors you mentioned, the K series would render the most power over the older h's and b's. I'm not saying in any way that the h's or b's can't hang with the k's, but it's just a whole nother monster. new technology, better tuning material etc..Is it a daily driver or is it a straight track car? How much exactly is your budget? You need to do a bit of research before you go dumping thousands down the drain. the more information you give us about what you wanna do, the better we can guide you.

well price budget isnt really a problem for me cause i been saving and i got $3000 right now. but i was thinking of ordering a b16 vtec from hmotorsonline.com and then putting a turbo in it later down the road. would that be pretty quick? i just want to be able to run the quarter mile in ATLEAST 12seconds

You won't be able to do that reliably for $3000.

Is your goal getting down a track quick? If so look into an H22 swap. The B16 is torqueless. Won't be running any 12's in a B16 in any chassis for cheap and reliably.
