see everyone has there motors and they stick to them, your going to have to choose the one that you want. You can go none Vtec or have Vtec. Sorry i know i didnt answer your question. It always comes down to how fast do you want to go??

That is an excellent setup right there, great base to start building a real beast. Now if you take that setup, throw in some Eagle rods, Wiseco or JE lower compression pistons, Zex inline fuel pump, and either port and polish the head with some Crower turbo cams, valve springs and retainers. You will have the exact same setup that I want but cant fucking afford.

That setup built the right way including tuning and labor should put you right around 7 grand. He is right, you have to pay to play.

ok how about if i go all motor would i be faster? would it be more reliable? would it be cheaper and if so, what would you guys use to go all motor?

I agree with Tenacious, read alot. Perhaps you can start out with an LS-T and if you want later on, going with a VTEC head. Hell, you could bore the LS to 84mm and have a 2.0. There are just _too_ many options for everyone to be throwing out there.
Get in touch with people who've done this kinda stuff, John @ SS, Tenacious, and others here. There IS stuff to learn from the right people.
