With a GS-R tranny.....if you're cruising on the highway in 5th, you will be doing around 4k RPMs or so, and that's not good with turbo.....so if you stick with the GS-R, you'll wanna put the LS 5th gear synchro in it, so you'll cruise more around 3k. Or at least that's what I've come to understand.

do some reading.......... http://www.homemadeturbo.com/

and as far the tranny issues goes it all boils down to what your primary function for the car is going to be. street car, strictly track car or autocrosser. once you make your mind up then you can or have someone help you choose a tranny, or then again have a custom hybrid tranny made to your likings.

5th gear @4k rpm would be fairly fast. 100mph? Just a guess.
My friends 00 GS-R runs at about 4k at 80mph in 5th on the highway.
