Default B16a2 chugging after 5k

So I got a 99' Si and I notice that any time I get on it past 5k it starts getting chuggy and wont pull at all. I have a aftermarket tach in it and notice that the tach needle starts spiking when it happens. Does not happen with stock tach. Just trying to figure out whats going on. Detonation? Timing issues? Lack of fuel?

Car runs fine everywhere else

Is your check engine light on?
If so, what codes are being thrown?

The issue is likely distributor related or a fuel system issue.
It is really hard to pin point if you are throwing no codes.
The easiest thing to do would be to borrow someone's working obd2 bseries vtec distributor

Really don't know anyone that has one. My dizzy had gone out beginning of this year, I had bought a B18b dizzy and swapped internals to my B16 dizzy case. Then again I did have a good amount of shit happen since then and not sure if thats the reason.

Beginning of this year I had my timing belt break off about 6 teeth and jumped timing. No damage at all to the pistons (CTR pistons) but a leakdown test showed bent valve or something ( a good 30% to 40% loss). I replaced the head, arp headstuds, all new gaskets, went to fire it up and no spark at all. Replaced with dizzy internals from a B18b and it ran fine.

I dont know maybe people big into the honda scene with a spare laying around. How would I check fuel? Any explanation on the tach needle floating around when this happens?

Escuse the music. Redneck version of Gin and Juice on the radio and thought it was funny, wasn't loud in the car at all but it sounded loud on video.

distributor issues.
look at your tach jumping when you get up into vtec.
I had the same issue when I was getting moisture inside my dizzy. It was never the same til' I got a new one.
Wish I had one for ya but i'm sure someone has one for you

I never play over 5k because of this issue. Noticed it never went into vtec at all. Sounded like it in video but it never did. It gets worse in vtec, chuggy and poppy. tach spikes like crazy.

Still no CEL, oil level good.. not sure why no vtec

If no cel then its just hit and miss, change the distributor if you got the money
